Through July 5, San Diego’s Annual County Fair
Flower and garden shows, exhibits, art, gems & minerals, carnival rides, food booths, midway, and concerts. This year’s theme will be “A Fair to Remember: a Celebration of World’s Fairs and Balboa Park.” This year will commemorate the centennial anniversary of the 1915 Panama-California Exposition held in Balboa Park, and the great traditions and inventions arising from fairs.

July 3, San Ysidro Independence Day Festival
San Ysidro is celebrating Independence Day with a festival 
that will include drinks, food, an live music. The event concludes with an evening fireworks show at 9:45 pm. Free event.

July 4th, Annual Big Bay Boom Fireworks Show
The largest display in the county, with fireworks launched from four barges strategically placed around North San Diego Bay. Fireworks can be seen from Shelter Island, Harbor Island, the Embarcadero area and Seaport Village/Coronado Landing. Just find a place along the bay!

July 4, San Diego County Fair 4th of July Celebration
Start off the day at the Fair with a patriotic opening ceremony at 9:30 AM, then enjoy the Hometown Heroes Parade at 7:00 PM, a concert provided by the Navy Band Southwest followed by a spectacular fireworks display.

July 4, Scripps Ranch Old Pros 10K Race, Fun Runs & Bike Rides

July 11, Bake at the Lake
A four-mile cross-country race on the trails at Lake Hodges. Proceeds benefit Mission Vista High School Cross Country Teams and the park trails system at Lake Hodges. Participate and get a good workout for a good cause.

July 11 & 12, The Walking Dead Escape at Petrco Park
This isn’t just an obstacle course, this is an immersive experience into the world of The Walking Dead.  Sure, you’ll need to run for your lives, but you’ll also need to make decisions alone or as a group that will determine whether your captured or escape the menacing Negan and his group of Survivors! Participate as a  spectator, survivor... or walker.

Over-The-Line Tournament
Over-the-Line Tournament - Over fifty years of adult sandbox play. A form of rugged sand softball play, with over 1,300 teams of three persons each, played on 50-mini courts over two consecutive weekends. Crowds of people in beachwear gather to watch the games amid music and beer. Admission is free. You have to be 18+ to play. 9 age divisions. Entrance fee to watch: Free.

July 12, 34th Annual Carlsbad Triathlon 2015
This race is for everybody. The Carlsbad Triathlon ranks in the world’s top five longest running triathlons. The race begins with an open-water ocean swim, which is well-marked with buoys followed by a bike course, and the race finishes with a run along the Pacific Ocean coastline.

July 17-19, San Diego Annual LGBT Pride PARADE, Rally, 
Festival, Block Party
San Diego Pride’s famous cultural festival includes multiple stages of entertainment, more than 80 musicians, bands, comedy and dance performers, 300 participating vendor booths, an art exhibit, cultural presentations, and great food!  This two day Pride Festival in Balboa Park has become a premier PRIDE event in California.

July 25 & 26, Annual Insect Festival 
Explore the wonderful world of insects! The kids can practice bug collecting, hands-on insect arts & crafts, and even taste cooked mealworm larva (in various flavors such as mesquite, teriyaki and barbecue, of course!). This event is free with the price of admission to the Gardens, members and children under 12 are admitted free.
